At kin:pathic, professional development isn’t just a requirement, it’s part of who we are. We know that when our team grows, our clients and communities benefit too. That’s why we set aside dedicated time to step away from our daily routines and come together for a Professional Development Day.
This June, under sunny skies and a light early-summer breeze, we gathered at one of the most charming and quintessentially New Hampshire locations: the Lawrence Barn in Hollis, NH. Originally built in the 1780s, the barn has stood through centuries of change. After being carefully dismantled and reconstructed in the early 2000s, it now serves as a community gathering place—a fitting backdrop for a day focused on change, growth, and connection.
In many ways, this setting mirrored our focus for the day: honoring where we’ve been, reflecting on how we’ve grown, and intentionally investing in the continued development of our team.
Real Conversations, Real Skill-Building
We started the morning with coffee, snacks, and company updates from CEO and BCBA, Tiffany Remy, as well as our Scheduling Coordinator Chelsey, and HR Coordinator Adam. These moments help keep our team aligned and supported on everything from scheduling logistics to HR policies that protect our staff and families we serve.
Professional development at kin:pathic is never just about checking boxes. Each session focused on helping our team build real-world clinical skills and deepen their understanding of how to best support the children and families we work with.
Annual HIPAA Review:
Tiffany guided the team through real-life scenarios showing what HIPAA compliance looks like in the field. From community outings to casual parent check-ins, we discussed how to maintain client privacy while still being responsive and supportive.
Harassment Prevention Training:
Adam led an open conversation about workplace respect and boundaries. The focus wasn’t just on compliance, but on how we actively create a safe, inclusive environment for everyone at kin:pathic.
PTO and Self-Care Awareness:
Tiffany and Adam encouraged everyone to take time off when needed. Rested clinicians provide better care, and making space for wellness is part of our organizational commitment to sustainability and balance.
Building Connection Through Teamwork and Play
But professional development at kin:pathic is so much more than just policies and quizzes, we’re about shared experiences that help us grow stronger together.
We broke into teams for the Diaper Race Relay, where each person raced to put a diaper on a stuffed animal before handing it off. The room was full of laughter and friendly competition. A team of RBTs and BTs took first place, with the BCBAs close behind. The admin team even landed a surprise third-place finish!
Next came the Helium Stick Challenge, a deceptively simple but incredibly fun test of teamwork and communication. As we all lined up to lower a lightweight stick to the ground our group quickly discovered just how easy it is for small miscommunications to send the stick floating up instead of down. After some laughter, trial and error, and a lot of collaboration, the team was able to coordinate all together and do it!
Participation, Reflection, and Growth
Throughout the day, participation was high and energy stayed positive and focused. There were thoughtful questions, engaged discussions, and lots of active note-taking as our team leaned into each learning opportunity. From deep conversations during compliance reviews to spontaneous laughs during breaks, the room was full of the kind of connection and curiosity that define kin:pathic’s culture.
We’re incredibly proud of the growth we continue to see in our therapists—not just in their clinical skills, but in their leadership, their self-awareness, and their commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality care. Days like this remind us that professional development isn’t just a checkbox; it’s a living, breathing part of who we are as a team.
We wrapped up around 3 PM, giving everyone a well-deserved early start to enjoy the rest of the beautiful day and weekend.
Why Days Like This Matter
